Grasping the Glory of God

Scripture Text: John 17:1-5

At last we arrive at John 17, the conclusion of Jesus’ last lesson and one of the great “mountaintops” of Scripture. In this chapter—an extended prayer of Jesus to the Father—Jesus offers his disciples the ultimate assurance of his love, power, and protection as he prepares to depart for the cross. This Sunday Michael Bouterse will teach on the opening section of the prayer in 17:1-5, whose central concern is glory.
