Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. One Hope Church is committed to not only serving our local community, but partnering to support other missionaries and providing opportunities for others to serve on short term mission trips.
Below are just some of the ways our congregation is able to use their gifts and talents to serve others across the globe. Interested in taking part in these opportunities? Check back frequently as upcoming mission opportunities will be posted to this page or email Pat Lelvis.
One Hope Church team makes available the opportunity to receive a grant for each OHC member involved in both local and international missions/ministry. To request a "Go and Do - Missions" grant, please complete and submit this request form.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
One Hope Church is a committed supporter of Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Builds. Throughout the course of each year, One Hope Church leads, and partners with leaders from other churches, to participate in international missions, resulting in the creation of affordable housing for low-income families.
In the last three years, One Hope Church has led, or particpated, in trips to Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. If you're interested in participating in a Habitat for Humanity/Thrivent Builds trip, there are opportunities approximately 3-4 times each year.
The One Hope Church benevolence team makes available a grant for each OHC member involved in a Habitat for Humanity International Build. Qualified Thrivent Financial members may be eligible to receive an additional $500 grant through the Thrivent Builds program.

Meal Packaging...High Energy Outreach
Feeding Children Who Transform Nations
Partnering with Children of the Nations, One Hope Church has hosted three meal packaging events. These 3 events have transformed our place of worship into a hands-on, all-out, high-energy way to share God's love.
Through year-round meal packaging opportunities, Children of the Nations staff works with local schools, organizations, and churches to mobilize groups of people interested in providing food for orphans and destitute children around the world. Volunteers package meals that are shipped overseas and served to children through feeding centers in Africa and the Dominican Republic.

COTN Missions in Sierra Leone
During the summer of 2012, OHC helped to send SPU soccer star Josie Graybeal to Sierra Leone where she led a soccer camp for students at the Children of the Nations School.
Read about details of her amazing journey here.
In December 2013, Josie returned to Sierra Leone for 3 weeks along with her parents and other friends/classmates from SPU.
One Hope Church has developed a special Kenya Connection with Love School Centre, a Christian school in the heart of the Kawangware slum of Nairobi.
In December, 2011, One Hope Church facilitated the renovation of the Love School Centre. Renovations included installing cement floors, new roofs, gutters, walkways and painting of the entire exterior of the school.
In January 2012, One Hope Church helped to launch the "fortified porridge" lunch program at the Love School Centre, providing each of the 350 students with a cup of warm nutritious cereal. OHC's donation helped to construct a small "cooking shed," purchase the necessary kettles and charcoal burner and hire a cook. This is an ongoing program in which OHC will continue to support.
In July 2012, a team of teachers from One Hope Church traveled to Kenya to give help and encouragement to the 14 teachers at Love School Centre. Money is in short supply at Love School Centre and some months there isn't enough money to pay the teachers, so some teachers do private tutoring in the evenings so that they can continue to teach at Love School Centre and still be able to meet their families' needs.
A number of the students at Love School Centre are orphans. Members of One Hope Church are now sponsoring some of the orphans - providing for food, school fees, school uniforms and medical care. The OHC Team of Teachers were able to meet with the orphans being sponsored by OHC members during their visit in July.
The OHC Team of Teachers was also been invited to help at the Kibera Luther Academy, which is run by the Spring of Life Lutheran Church in Kibera slum.

Love School - Christmas Party 2013
Spirited Women decided to sponsor a Christmas Party/Dinner for the children at Love School in the Kawangware Slum of Nairobi, Kenya. The school staff did an amazing job! Imagine preparing a meal for 400, with no running water, no electricity and no kitchen! Furthermore, the plan was to have the cooking, the serving and the program all outside. However, when the heavy rains turned the yard into thick mud, everything had to be moved indoors!
The school year in Kenya runs from January to November. So actually the “party” was held at the end of November. It turned out to be an end-of-the-year program, a Thank You to Spirited Women, an expression of Get Well wishes for Pat Lelvis AND graduation for the KG class!
It also became a Jesus-kind of “loaves and fishes” story, when there was enough food left over to feed the street kids who had been harassing the students all day!
